Service Description
“Alternatives Programme,” a personal development program for 12-15 year olds in Monaghan and Cavan, Ireland. Co-funded by the European Union and the UK government as a PEACEPLUS Youth Programme, its aim is to enhance young people’s capacities, help them form positive relationships with those from different backgrounds, build confidence, and contribute to a cohesive society.
Key aspects of the program include:
Target Audience: Young people aged 12-15 who want to be part of a youth group, may be struggling with life aspects, want to gain confidence and skills, and live in Monaghan or Cavan.
Program Structure: Participants engage with a youth worker up to three times a week for 6-9 months. It’s primarily group-based, involving workshops, good relations activities, citizenship, skills building, trips, and fun activities, with one-to-one support available.
Objectives for Participants: Improve confidence, develop new skills, build relationships and friendships, work on personalized goals, complete tasks in groups, and work independently. The program encourages teamwork, independence, self-confidence, and motivation.
