Service Description
The School Completion Programme (est. 2002) aims to increase the attendance, retention and participation of children and young people in primary and second level school and, in doing so, improve the numbers of pupils who successfully complete the Senior Cycle, or equivalent. The Programme provides a range of local interventions in DEIS schools and communities designed to support the retention of young people in education. The four pillars of SCP are in-school, after-school, during holidays and out-of-school, and the Programme targets support towards children and young people in these pillars who are at risk of disengagement and early school leaving .
Cavan School Completion Programme provides supports to 8 schools in the county, St Clare’s N.S, Cavan, St Felim’s N.S, Cavan, Gaelscoil Bhréifne, Breifne College, St Clare’s N.S Ballyjamesduff, St Anne’s N.S, Bailieborough, St Michael’s N.S, Cootehill and St Mogue’s College, Bawnboy.

Referral Pathway
The SCP is a targeted support for those children and young people most at risk of educational disadvantage through early school leaving.Children and young people who are identified as requiring a targeted support must be referred to the SCP using the SCP Referral Form.Parental consent to refer to the SCP must also be obtained.
The Home School Community Liaison Coordinator in each school is responsible for supporting teachers in obtaining parental consent and completing the referral form. Not every child or young person who is referred will receive supports.
